How YOU can help some ladies look good and feel amazing after cancer treatment

Confidence After Cancer – makeovers for women after treatment

Confidence After Cancer was initially started as a support group for women who have been through cancer treatment. My vision is for those women to live happy, healthy and purposeful lives.

My own story was by the age of 39 I had an MBA, a job as a Director of a large company, and a huge level of stress in my life. At age 44 I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive  cancer (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) and realised that something had to change. I went through chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiotherapy and the end of all that I expected to feel better, but instead, I was anxious, tearful and deeply depressed.

I thought I was alone in feeling like this until I read that women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis are 37% more likely to commit suicide, and this elevated risk persists for 25 years according to a study in the American Cancer Journal.

I set about changing my lifestyle, and in the process I gained a lot of knowledge on holistic health that I wanted to share with others. I set up CAC facebook group and very quickly had over 1,300 followers.

There is a huge need for support for women AFTER treatment ends, a time when they often feel most alone and vulnerable. It is wonderful to be able to help these women and encourage them to feel good again.

The impact of this level of support is improved happiness, better relationships, more confidence, the ability to return to work, or to change careers, volunteer in the community or for the very brave – start their own business.

So, how can you help me?

Please spare a few minutes to vote for us, we have 2 amazing events planned, hosted by Love Juice in Chorlton, we will share some lush fresh juices and raw. No preaching just sharing some easy ways to get your 5 a day in an enjoyable way. Then the lovely Jay Diamond will take us through some stress management techniques, tips we all can take away and use every day. Then some lovely volunteers from Tropic natural skincare will give all the ladies a pamper, facial and makeover using fresh, natural, vegan, cruelty free products with no chemicals.

We will

Provide an experience for women at the lowest point in their lives, when they may feel depressed and unattractive. We will make them look good and feel better.

  • We will also provide support after the day, via social media, telephone support or 121 meetings for a coffee and a chat.
  • We will support these women to move forward after treatment and help them with the next phase of their lives, at a time when depression and anxiety can be overwhelming. We care because we’ve been there.

And all our ladies will be given a luxury skincare and make up kit to take home, some raw food treats and a copy of Gorgeous, Inside and Out, by Helen Adams – who will also be helping with the pampers.

Our mission is best summed up by Maya Angelou:

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style”

So how can you help?

VOTE for us please – only 2 days left – the top 7 projects will get funding – we are currently in 9th place – please help us. Thank you x
